Meet Our Singers
OUR TEAM IS READY TO MEET YOU
The Altoona Chorus was chartered/founded in March of 1954, and was the first chorus chartered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We are a small chorus, with women of all ages ranging from 14 to 83! Our members come from as far as Pittsburgh, State College and even Indiana. We love to sing together, and enjoy each other’s friendship and support.
Our Director Emeritus, Ann George (right), has been a member of Sweet Adelines since 1970–She began her directorial career with Altoona in January 1978, and directed in her first contest six weeks later! Under Ann’s direction, we won our first medal–a second place finish in Region 18’s Competition in May, 1984, and placed second again in 1985. In 1986, we became members of Region 19. Ann retired in 2021, and Mary Kay (left) Parrish is currently the interim director.
Mary Kay has been a member of the Altoona Chorus since 1973. She is a certified director in the International organization and has been the assistant director of the chorus since 2001.

I enjoy performing because after rehearsing new songs for many, many hours, it’s so nice to see the audience’s reaction and enjoyment of the songs.
